Job Summary
The Senior Electrical Engineer will play a key role in the research, design, and development of advanced electrical systems and components. This position involves contributing to all phases of the engineering lifecycle, from requirements definition and prototyping to testing, troubleshooting, and final revisions. The engineer will perform detailed analysis, simulations, and trade studies to drive sound design decisions, as well as develop and validate electrical systems, hardware, and microcontroller circuits. The role requires strong hands-on technical skills in wiring, harnessing, and component fabrication, along with proficiency in Altium for schematic capture and layout. The Senior Electrical Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and present results through technical documentation, drawings, and presentations to internal stakeholders and customers. This position offers the opportunity to apply expertise in electric motors, controllers, and high-power applications while supporting the development of innovative, mission-critical systems.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Participate in any/all stages of research & development for electrical systems and components, including but not limited to requirements definition, design, prototype, test, troubleshooting, and revision.
- Perform analysis, simulation, and engineering trade studies to support design decisions.
- Design and conduct tests of electrical and hardware systems, collect data, and analyze results.
- Develop and perform electrical tests and test procedures to verify system functionality.
- Develop and debug microcontroller systems and circuits.
- Present results of your work with technical drawings, written reports, and oral presentations to customers and senior project management.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Demonstrated technical hands-on capability with attention to detail, including soldering, wiring, harnessing, connectors, and parts fabrication.
- Proficiency with Altium for Schematic capture, layout and documenting wire harness designs
- Experience with electric motor and controller/inverter theory, design, and analysis.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- US Citizenship Required
- Master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
- Proficient in electric motor and controller/inverter theory, design, and analysis.
- Experience with use and applications of batteries in high power applications such as motors.
- Experience with digital communication protocols such as SPI, Ethernet, and CAN bus.
- Familiarity with MATLAB, Python, C++, and/or other coding languages.
- Familiarity with Military standards relating to the design of high-power/voltage electrical system and electromagnetic compatibility for aircraft.
