Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Technical Writing Specialist will develop, edit, and publish assembly and test procedures to support efficient production. Collaborating with technicians and engineers, this role ensures process clarity and alignment with manufacturing goals. Key qualifications include strong communication, technical writing, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to interpret documents such as blueprints, schematics, and quality records. Success in this role requires adaptability and problem-solving in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
Write, edit, and maintain detailed work instructions, technical documents, procedural guides, and product literature to support manufacturing and production activities.
Collaborate with various stakeholders, including manufacturing and design engineers, production staff, and assembly technicians, to gather information and ensure documentation is accurate and reflective of current processes.
Work closely with production teams and document control staff to align documentation efforts with production schedules and release milestones.
Research technical details about products and processes to develop comprehensive instruction manuals, reference guides, and white papers tailored to user needs.
Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and accessible content for diverse audiences, ensuring all documentation is easy to understand and implement.
Document product and technology specifications in accordance with industry-specific technical documentation standards.
Regularly meet with engineers, programmers, and project managers to understand specific products or processes, integrating feedback into updated documentation.
Ensure all written content is clear, complete, and aligned with manufacturing goals and regulatory requirements.
Develop and organize user guides, manuals, and other technical publications to support both internal and external users effectively.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Demonstrate strong organizational and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and perform tasks with minimal to moderate supervision.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred: Experience working with engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of automated machines and tools, including their design, usage, repair, and maintenance.
Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment with familiarity in production processes, quality control, and material handling.
Strong planning, organization, and multitasking abilities.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with diverse teams and constituencies.
Knowledge of mathematics, including basic arithmetic, algebra, and geometry.
Problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify issues and apply root cause analysis techniques.
Experience in authoring and publishing controlled documentation within a regulated or structured environment.
