Information Technology (IT) Help Desk Technician

Position Summary: 
The IT Help Desk Technician is responsible for providing day-to-day technical support and maintenance of the company’s IT systems, software, and hardware. This role ensures that employees have reliable and efficient access to technology resources by installing, configuring, and troubleshooting systems and devices. The IT Help Desk Technician will maintain accurate IT asset inventories, assist with system deployments, and provide excellent customer service to end users while escalating complex issues as needed. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Operations 

  • Install and configure software and hardware. 

  • Wiping and De-commissioning obsolete hardware. 

  • Assist with the deployment of software updates. 

  • Setup accounts and workstations. 

  • Imaging laptops and desktops. 

  • Terminate ethernet cables as required. 

  • Ensure accuracy of IT asset inventory 

  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving 

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to computer hardware, software, networks, and peripherals.  

  • Follow up with users to ensure issues are resolved and customers are satisfied.  

  • Escalate complex problems to higher-level IT personnel when necessary.  

  • User Support 

  • Provide technical assistance to users via phone, email, or in-person.  

  • Answer questions about IT systems, software, and hardware.  

  • Guide users through troubleshooting steps.  

  • Documentation and Record Keeping 

  • Document issues, solutions, and user interactions.  

  • Maintain accurate records of IT activities and infrastructure.  

  • Other Duties 

  • Day-to-day resolution of IT task ticket system. 

  • May provide training to users on IT systems and software.  

  • May assist with the procurement of IT equipment.  

  • May monitor IT systems and infrastructure for potential problems.  

Essential Qualifications 

  • Understanding computer hardware, software, and networks.  

  • Experience with troubleshooting and problem-solving.  

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues.  

Education or Equivalent: 

A high school diploma is preferred. 

Some college experience as plus 

Experience: 

IT admin experience preferred. 
Formal computer science training is a plus. 

Necessary Skills, Knowledge & Judgment: 

  • Excellent writing skills 

  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office Word and Excel software 

  • Must possess solid organizational skills 

  • Basic math skills 

  • US Citizen 

  • Detail oriented 

  • Disciplined execution of processes and systems 

Language Skills:  

  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.   

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers. 

Reasoning Ability: 

  • Proven ability to analyze and solve problems.  

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.  

Physical Demands: 

  • Lift and handle computing hardware up to 30 pounds. 

Work Environment: 

  • Work will be conducted in an office and manufacturing environment.
