Manufacturing Rework Specialist 

Job Summary: 

The Manufacturing Rework Specialist is responsible for diagnosing, reworking, and improving composite and electromechanical assemblies to meet engineering and quality requirements while supporting production deliverables. This hands-on role ensures materials, tools, and equipment are available and partners with Production Leads, Supervisors, Engineering, and the MRB team to identify root causes, interpret NCRs, and implement corrective actions. The position performs rework on complex assemblies, assists with prototype builds and test equipment setup, creates and updates NCRs, and contributes to build documentation and work instructions. The Manufacturing Rework Specialist monitors quality metrics, escalates process or quality issues, supports continuous improvement, and ensures compliance with ISO 9001/AS9100 standards while promoting a safety-first culture. 

Responsibilities and Duties:  

  • Ensure the team has necessary raw materials, tools, consumables, and equipment to meet daily deliverables.  

  •  Monitor and report on quality metrics to support continuous improvement and adherence to standards.  

  • Track training and skill development within the team to maintain required levels of skillset redundancy across assemblies. 

  • Identify, resolve, and escalate roadblocks or production issues, acting as a liaison between the Production Leads/Supervisors and the Engineering team.  

  •  Remain actively involved in personal production work alongside the team.  

  •  Support the manufacturing team with the rework of composite parts and/or electromechanical assemblies.  

  •  Support the MRB team with interpretation of NCRs from knowledge of how the parts interact as a single unit and as a whole assembly • Create, update, and close NCRs  

  • Follow written work instructions to assemble and document the build of each assembly. 

  • Escalate any process or quality issues to appropriate stakeholders.  

  • Offer suggestions to improve safety, quality, on-time delivery, and productivity. 

  •  Build and set up test equipment.  

  • Assist engineering in the development and fabrication of prototypes parts and assemblies  

  •  Utilize basic hand tools to create assemblies  

  • Assist the engineers as they create, modify & test products and processes  

  •  Help create build documentation and work instructions of assemblies  

  • Support other functions of the company depending on skills, workload, prioritization  

  • Communicate and escalate any process or quality issues  

  • Adhere to safety requirements and promote a safety-first culture  

Required Qualifications and Skills:  

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.  

  •  Quick learner, hard-working, with skilled hands and strong attention to detail.  

  •  Technical hands-on capability, including but not limited to wiring, soldering, parts fabrication, assembly, and general shop maintenance.  

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills; able to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.  

  • Ability to verbally communicate, read and comprehend work instructions and Engineering documents  

  • Experience operating within an ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality environment  

  • Proficiency with handling using lithium-ion batteries  

Desired Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Experience fabricating composite parts and assemblies  

  •  Experience assembling simple UAV systems  

  • Understanding of GD&T tolerancing basics  

  •  Experience designing tooling and fixtures to support assembly and fabrication  

  • Ability to perform simple electronic diagnostics using a multimeter and other equipment  

  • Certifications as a trainer for workmanship standards such as IPC, J-STD, etc.  

  • Ability to use advanced measurement and inspection tools  

  • Experience assembling complex UAV systems  

  • Firm understanding of GD&T tolerancing and technical drawing standards  

  • Proficient with advanced tools and equipment • Interpret and understand technical drawings and documents.
