Empirical Systems Aerospace, Inc. (ESAero) is a growing aerospace company in the San Luis Obispo area that provides various services which include but are not limited to: rapid system development, on-demand niche engineering, hands-on development/testing, and small UAS aerospace system manufacturing.
Job Summary:
ESAero is seeking a self-motivated Document Control Specialist to join our team in San Luis Obispo, CA. This person will assist and coordinate engineering changes to ensure the proper departments follow through with actions to implement changes quickly and accurately.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Reviews documents for completeness and identifies issues such as typos, grammatical errors, incomplete data, formatting discrepancies, and edits documents on behalf of the originator to correct the issues identified.
- Resolves document processing issues.
- Ensure technical documentation standards are maintained from initial design stages, through the end of the program
- Facilitate the change control tools across all necessary projects to ensure documents are processed, reviewed, and implemented in a timely manner
- Coordinate and run Change Control Board (CCB) Meetings
- Capture, disseminate, and communicate changes between the Change Control Board (CCB) as well as implementation actions
- Track implementation actions to completion
- Learn ESAero’s Product Data Management (PDM) system to correctly and quickly implement configuration and revision changes
- Look for process improvement opportunities and work in a cross-functional team to implement approved process improvements
- Manage documents to properly archive outdated or unnecessary documents.
- Understand each project’s quality standards that influence the various documentation requirements.
- Bridge the gap between Design, Manufacturing and Quality
- Ability to read engineering drawings/documents as well as understand revision/configuration control
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- 2-5 years experience in maintaining a document control system or a relevant position
- An understanding of mechanical and electrical processes being documented.
- The ability to write clear and concise procedures.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Adherence to established company procedures and policies.
- Advanced computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Office Professional including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Vizio
- Advanced document editing and formatting experience
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
- Familiarity with ERP systems
