Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant ensures accurate financial records, compliance with U.S. GAAP, and supports month-end and annual close processes. Responsibilities include preparing journal entries, assisting with financial analysis, maintaining internal controls, and preparing audit documentation. The Senior Accountant also mentors junior staff, collaborates across departments, and contributes to process improvements and compliance initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare journal entries for month-end and annual close, ensuring accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP, particularly in complex and sensitive accounting areas.
  • Assist the Accounting Manager and CFO in analyzing financial data to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial statements and management reports.
  • Support the CFO and Accounting Manager in executing a timely and accurate month-end and annual close process.
  • Develop and maintain schedules, workpapers, and supporting documentation for annual financial audits, tax filings, and other compliance-related audits.
  • Monitor adherence to internal controls and recommend enhancements as necessary.
  • Implement and uphold consistent accounting policies in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop junior finance team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, to ensure the accuracy of financial data and reporting.
  • Provide support to the CFO and Accounting Manager on ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as required to ensure the effective execution of accounting functions and compliance with financial regulations.

 

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably in public accounting or a corporate finance environment.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and fundamental auditing principles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA certification or progress toward CPA preferred).
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and Paychex (a plus but not required).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with DCAA compliance is a plus.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
